BARUG NewsMay 2005
Last month:Last month we welcomed Graham Shaw. Graham told us about the RISC OS Packaging Project which offers the end-user a consistent and largely automated way to maintain software packages and the developer a consistent approach to software developmentand distribution. He also told us of his efforts in the development of the RISC OS Toolkit library available to the C++ developer on RISC OS. This has, amongst others, the advantage of being under current development. See http://rtk.riscos.org.uk (or an alternative) for more information about the RISC OS Toolkit and http://www.riscpkg.org/ for the same about the RISC OS Packaging Project. Our grateful thanks go to Graham for coming so far to tell us about his work.
This month:May is our month for clerical duties. The AGM will be preceded by an EGM which will allow discussion about the updating of the club constitution to keep it in pace with the current state of the RISC OS scene. The AGM will follow the normal path, including the election of new officers to the committee. All members should have received agendas for both meetings a week or so ago - anyone wanting another copy or anyone who failed to receive the first can email the vice-chair. It is important that as many members attend this meeting as possible so please do your best to come.
Other news:Will some big news will come from the Wakefield Show? We wait with bated breath! The show will be a two day event starting on Saturday 21st May. We have been promised several new items. We shall see... By the time the May meeting comes around the show will be over so hopefully it will provide some topics for conversation. The Wakefield Show website can be found at: http://www.wakefieldshow.org.uk/intro.shtml. We have received a request from an ex-member for the transport of certain items to Wakefield for the Charity Stall. If anyone from the club who is going to the show can offer such transport from the Bristol area, please contact either Tony or Jack as soon as possible.
