BARUG NEWSLETTER, JULY 2002

This month's meeting...

The first thing to bring to members' attention this month is that there will not be a meeting on the last Wednesday of July. Members will recall that instead of the usual meeting, a joint meeting would be held earlier with the Wessex Group in their meeting place at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton. I understand that a small number of BARUG members attended that meeting, and that a good time was had by all.

The second point to make is that there WILL be a meeting on the last Wednesday in August. There is no guest speaker planned, so instead there will be a general question-and-answer/problem solving/demonstration evening. Jack is providing a RISC PC and members are invited to take the opportunity to air any problems or ask questions. If anyone has any topic they would like to present, or which would benefit from preparation before the meeting, please contact Jack in advance.

Other stuff...

News this month: not much news! I've still seen no sign of the arrival of the USB cards and drivers announced. The RiscStation portable is still some way off: latest rumours on one of the portal sites is that a working prototype will be available next month, with production items a couple of months behind. It is disappointing that there is still no official word from RiscStation. Microdigital, on the other hand, perhaps stung by adverse comment about its lack of announcements, has started giving regular snippets of news on its website:

A prototype Microdigital Omega was apprently demonstrated at the recent RISC OS Show in Holland, so perhaps we are closer to seeing this new machine.

Cerilica has announced another addition to their range of programs. Publishing Pack 2 contains 5 new programs, all designed to improve your publishing. The graphic below illustrates the various applications. For more details see Cerilica's website:
